In 1922, Crawford's photograph of the high cross at Monaincha shows that the head of the cross sat directly into the base without any evidence for a shaft, beside this cross there as a small ringed cross which appears to have been the gable finial of the church at Monaincha (JRSAI 1922, 81). There are no traces of this finial at Monaincha.
