What is recorded here

Located in pastureland on a fairly steep NW-facing slope in undulating terrain overlooking a boggy valley. The hill continues to rise to the SE. According to the OS Letters 'it is supposed there was a small Church, but no walls or foundations are visible there at present' (O'Flanagan 1930, vol. 2, 82). There is a slightly raised area in the centre of the graveyard which may have been the site of the church. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
