What is recorded here

Located on the summit of an irregular, meandering ridge with a spur to the S, in very hilly, undulating terrain. A raised circular area (diam. 17m) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 0.8m; int. H 0.23m; ext. H 1.87) with a steep drop to the exterior. An outer fosse is visible in the NW quadrant (Wth 3m) and there is an entrance gap at E (Wth 2.65m). The site is badly overgrown with gorse and ferns. A field bank bisects the site from E to W and a road runs close to the NW quadrant. (Stout 1984, 76). The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
