Located on a SE-facing slope in undulating pastureland. Indicated on the 1st ed. (1840) OS 6-inch map as a roughly semicircular area with a field boundary oriented roughly N-S along the W side. Though not indicated on the 1901-5 ed. this site is visible as a low, semicircular rise (dims. 30m N-S; 22m E-W) with a very gentle slope to the exterior (H c. 0.6m). The site appears to have been truncated by a field boundary as on the OS 6-inch map but there is no visible evidence of the site W of this boundary.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
