What is recorded here

Situated on a S-facing slope in undulating pastureland. A circular area (diam. 30m N-S; 29.1m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.1m; int. H 1.02m; ext. H 1.47m) and external fosse (Wth 2.8m; D 0.61) with some evidence of external stone revetment at E. Trees are growing in the interior which slopes slightly to the S and there is heavy scrub at W and around the bank. There is a possible entrance (Wth 3m) with a slight causeway over fosse in the SE sector. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
