Located on a slight rise in undulating pastureland. Depicted as a roughly circular area on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map, but by the later ed. (1903) the NE quadrant had been removed. Although levelled, the W sector is still discernible with a raised interior (H 0.35m), external fosse (Wth 3.2m; D 0.1m) and outer bank (Wth 3.8m; ext. H 0.25m) (approx. diam. c. 56m N-S).
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
