What is recorded here

Situated in a hollow, sloping slightly to the E. The site is bisected by a townland boundary and the remains to the N of this boundary have been levelled. The surviving semicircular enclosure is defined by a substantial rubble-built limestone wall (Wth c. 3.5m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H c. 0.5m), the internal and external facing of which has collapsed. The interior is heavily overgrown with brambles and scrub, making diameters impossible to obtain. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
