What is recorded here

Situated on a low rise on a S-facing slope in tillage. Depicted on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure with field boundaries abutting the S and W sides. On the latest ed. (1903) the E half of the site had been levelled. The outline of the site was revealed as a cropmark on an aerial photograph (CUCAP, BDL 65). Part of a very low bank is descernible at E. The location and depictions suggest a ringfort classification. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
