What is recorded here

Situated off the crest of a hill on an E-facing slope. A circular area (diam. 33m N-S; 36m E-W) enclosed by a bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1.53m) reduced to a scarp at E and a wide, outer fosse (Wth 5.5m; D 0.6m). A gap (Wth c. 2.4m) in the bank in the NE quadrant may be a modern feature. A large quantity of small stones have been dumped in fosse in the S sector. The fosse is less clear on the E side. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
