What is recorded here

Situated on a S-facing slope in rolling pastureland. A small, roughly circular area (diam. c. 25m) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1m) with a slight hint of an external fosse. There is some external stone revetment on the bank, particularly in the NW quadrant, with large boulders along the base. The bank is quite denuded in the E sector but is otherwise in good condition. The interior slopes slightly to the S. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
