What is recorded here

Situated on a natural rise in undulating pastureland. Depicted as an enclosure on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map. Although levelled, the remains of a roughly circular area (diam. 34.2m N-S; 36m E-W) are still visible defined by a poorly preserved bank (Wth 6.4m; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.48m) with slight traces of a fosse (Wth c. 3m). The E sector is defined only by a scarp. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
