What is recorded here

Situated on high ground with extensive views in undulating countryside. The poorly preserved remains of a partially destroyed D-shaped enclosure consisting of a straight-sided N bank (Wth 1m; H 0.6m; L 35m) of earth and stone construction and an external fosse (Wth 3.5m; D 0.3m) visible at N only. No other features visible. May be associated with the ruins of the nineteenth-century farmhouse complex located immediately to the E. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 September 2008
