Barrow — bowl-barrow in Reask

In rough grazing, close to a break of slope at the E end of a ridge. One of a group of four barrows (see SL047-048001-; SL047-048003-; SL047-048004-). A circular round-topped steep-sided mound (9.7m N-S; 9m E-W; H 1.4m) enclosed by two fosses with intervening and external banks. Stones protrude in places from the sod-covered mound. The inner fosse (Wth 2m) is evident as a shallow depression marked by rushes and irises. The intervening bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.35m; ext. H 0.3m) is evident as a broad low rise, difficult to discern NE-E. The external fosse (Wth 2.5m) is evident only as a slight depression marked by irises. The external bank (Wth 2.3m; int. H 0.35m; ext. H 0.25m) is evident S-SW and NW-NNW, but is barely perceptible elsewhere. The external bank and fosse are overlain ENE-ESE by the external bank of the conjoined ring-barrow (SL047-048001-) and the external bank is truncated at W by a field boundary.
