What is recorded here

On top of a high limestone escarpment, immediately above a cashel (SL040-15901-) and 20m to NW of a break in the cliff-face which facilitates access from the base of the escarpment. On a narrow level grassy shelf, c. 1m below the top of the ridge. The barely perceptible outline of a rectangular structure (ext. dims.: 8.7m ENE-WSW; 4.7m NNW-SSE) defined on the S side by a moss-covered bank (Wth 1m; H 0.2m) and elsewhere by a slight moss-covered rise. The W end of the N wall is particularly poorly defined. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008
