Enclosure in Treanscrabbagh

In upland pasture, on a broad shelf on a W-facing slope in the Bricklieve Mountains. An irregular area (35.4m N-S; 30m E-W) defined NNE-SSW by an arc of ruinous stone wall (Wth 2.2m; H 0.5m), on the almost straight W side, where there is a steep W-facing slope at the terrace edge, by traces of a stone wall and on the straight N side by a linear field wall (Wth 1.3m) that continues to E beyond the limit of the enclosure. Boulders protrude randomly from the curving wall, which is low and sod-covered. The interior ground level appears slightly higher in the W half than elsewhere. There is a small sod-covered heap of stones (2.6m E-W; 2.3m N-S; H 0.4m) to E of the centre. An E-W field boundary wall crosses the S edge of the interior. There is a gap (Wth 0.3m) at S, flanked by two upright slabs, set 0.3m back from the terminals of the enclosing wall. A larger gap (Wth 2.3m) at SSE is now infilled by the E-W field boundary wall. There is a cashel (SL040-085002-) on a higher terrace on the same slope c. 100m to SE.
