What is recorded here

In rocky pasture, on an E-facing slope and in the N end of a field system (SL040-063001-). An oval area (int. diam. 34m x 30m) enclosed by a ruinous sod-covered stone wall (T 1.5m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.75m). There is a possible entrance (Wth 2.1m) in the S arc; several gaps in the wall were also noted. The E half of the interior is raised to compensate for the hillslope but it still retains a slope down to E. There is a possible souterrain (SL040-064002-) in the E half and a hut site (SL040-064003-) in the SW quadrant. Several disused field boundaries project from the perimeter. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008
