In undulating pasture, at the base of a slope and on the townland boundary between Cloghoge Lower and Carrowkeel. The well consists of an unenclosed shallow hollow (2m x 4m) at the point where a spring flows from the limestone. It was recorded in 1836 as 'Tobar Mhathghamhna (pron. Tobar Mathún)...a fine spring well' (OSL, 157). A possible enclosure (SL040-030----) lies c. 10m to SW and a fulacht fia (SL040-031002-) and a burnt spread (SL040-031003-) lie c. 30m to E.
