What is recorded here

In pasture, on level ground. Indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as a roughly circular enclosure (c. 50m N-S; c. 45m E-W) at the junction of three field boundaries. Indicated on the 1941-2 OS 6-inch map as a roughly oval field. The remains consist of a roughly oval area (70m N-S; 43m E-W) defined SE-SSW by a substantial earthen bank (Wth 3.5m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 1.6m) and SSW-N by a scarp (H 1.25m) with a slight internal lip (Wth 1m; H 0.3m). The enclosure is truncated at NE and E by a linear field boundary on a NNW-SSE axis. The interior is mostly level but is slightly raised in the S half. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
