What is recorded here

In pasture, on level boggy ground on the W side of a stream. A rectangular area (29m N-S; 28.3m E-W) defined by two fosses with an intervening earthen bank (Wth c. 4m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.5m). The inner fosse (Wth 4.6m; D 0.6m) is flat-bottomed and boggy. Short sections of the outer boggy fosse (Wth 5.2m; D c. 0.5m) are evident at the S end of the W side, the N end of the E side and at the SE corner. There is a causeway (Wth 4m) across the inner fosse on the E side. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
