Giants Grave, Cashelnamon — Carrowreagh (leyny By.)

On the bog-covered plateau below the higher slopes of the Ox Mountains and commanding an extensive view S and E across the basin of the River Moy. The tomb, in an oval bog-grown cairn (20.5m E-W; max. 13m N-S; H 1.5m), consists of a gallery (L 6m; Wth 1.5-3.3m) preceded at the E by the N side of a court. Two of the courtstones adjoin the gallery entrance and four others are 1.5m to the E. The outer two of these four may represent the side of an entrance passage leading to the court which may have been quite small. The well-preserved gallery narrows to both front and rear and its sides are doubled in places. Two jambs set at an angle to each other form the entrance to the gallery and another pair, the northern of the two split into three pieces, divide it into two chambers. The site is littered with displaced stones, some of them quite large. There is a low wall around the tomb probably built with stones taken from the cairn. Another court tomb (SL036-003----) c. 300m to S and a possible megalithic tomb (SL036-002001-) c. 30m to SW.
