What is recorded here

In rough pasture, high on the W side of a ridge. An oval area (int. diam. 26.9m x 31.4m) defined by an earthen bank with an external fosse (Wth 3.65m; D 0.5m). The bank (Wth 3.55m; int. H 2m; ext. H 1.5m), evident along the S, W and N arcs but missing along the E arc, is partially overgrown with brambles. There is a possible entrance (Wth 0.8m) at N. The interior slopes steeply down to E where the bank does not survive. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008
