What is recorded here

In rocky pasture, on a prominence on a W-facing slope. An oval area (int. diam. 28.5m x 32.4m) enclosed by a ruinous sod-covered stone wall (Wth 1.8m; int. H 0.55m; ext. H 0.65m). The entrance (Wth 1.5m) is in the W arc. The interior is partially overgrown with vegetation; there is a possible souterrain (SL035-005002-) in the W half. A portion of the S half of the interior (17m x 8.2m) is divided off by a stone wall (H 0.6m) and entered by gaps at E (Wth 2.5m) and W (Wth 1.75m). A hollow, surrounded by sod-covered spoil, was noted in the centre of the interior. A rath (SL035-004----) lies c. 150m to SW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
