What is recorded here

Listed in both the SMR (1989) and RMP (1995) and classified 'Hut Site (s)' and 'House' respectively. Not marked on the 1838 edition of the OS 6-inch map but shown on the 1941 edition. Immediately N of a relict field (SL033-060003-) and at the NW corner of a relict field (SL033-060001-). The foundations of a roughly rectangular structure (c. 3m N-S; c. 19m E-W) with four internal N-S dividing walls giving a total of five rooms (dims. of the largest room: 2.85m N-S; 5.8m N-S). Both the external and internal walls are low (H 0.2m) and of earth and stone construction. The internal floor level of each room is raised slightly above the external ground level. No entrance feature was identified. This house is probably post-1700 AD in date. Compiled by: Archaeological Survey Unit, UCC Date of upload: 11 January 2012
