Indicated — Templehouse Lake

In Templehouse lake, c. 150m from the NE shoreline. A roughly circular high-cairn crannog (23.4m N-S; 21.7m E-W; H 1.8m above the lake-bed). In the centre is a mid-cairn that blends gradually into the surrounding stony platform and berm. The crannog consists of loosely packed limestone boulders under which smaller angular stones are visible. In the N half, animal bones are mixed with the shattered stones. The edges drop gradually down into the water, though the N portion is steeper than the S portion, which gives the impression that the crannog is more easily approached from the lake. At NW a low U-shaped feature (1.4m N-S; 2.2m E-W) of large subangular stones was noted. Another crannog (SL033-029----) lies c. 200m to N and a third crannog (SL033-209----) is c. 600m to SW.
