What is recorded here

On top of a low rise. A naturally raised roughly circular area (29m N-S; 25m E-W) defined by a scarp (max. H 2.8m). An external fosse (Wth c. 7m) is evident along the SW, W and N arcs while there is a terrace (Wth 5m: H 1m) at the base of the scarp along the S arc. Along the outer edge of the fosse is an earthen bank (Wth 5m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H c. 0.9m). A NNW-SSE field boundary truncates the E edge of the rath. The interior is quarried into on the S and E arcs. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
