What is recorded here

In undulating pasture, on top of a ridge. A raised circular area (23m N-S) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 1.7m). There are gaps in the bank at E (Wth 1m) and S (Wth 3m). An external fosse is evident as a shallow depression (Wth c. 2m; D c. 0.3m) SW-NW. The interior is partially covered with overgrowth while the perimeter is densely covered. A field boundary abuts the bank at NW and another lies immediately to E of the rath. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008
