What is recorded here

On top of a ridge. A raised oval area (36m N-S; 27m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 2.7m) with external stone kerbing exposed along the NW arc; stone kerbing (1m x 0.6m x 0.35m) is also visible on the outer edge of the bank top on the S arc. Faint traces of an external fosse (Wth 4m) are evident. The entrance (Wth 4m) is at SE. There is a possible souterrain (SL021-059002-) in the SE quadrant. A field boundary curves around the fosse along the N arc. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
