What is recorded here

In pasture, on a gentle N-facing slope. This rath is levelled and not visible at ground level. All adjacent field boundaries have also been removed. It was described in 1986 (SMR (1989) file), prior to land reclamation, as a high steep-sided circular earthen platform (diam. c. 25m N-S; H c. 5m) surrounded at base SSE-NW by a fosse and outer bank which contained some stone. The interior was largely covered with overgrowth. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008
