What is recorded here

In wet pasture, adjacent to a stream in a valley bottom. One of several fulachtaí fia and burnt mounds which occur over a distance of 1.5km along the base of this flat-bottomed valley aligned NNE-SSW. Low, roughly kidney-shaped rise (c. 7m N-S; c. 5m E-W; H 0.2m), composed of angular stones in black soil, with slight hollow at NE possible indicating the position of a trough. A relict stream channel lying immediately to N, intervening between this mound and a burnt mound (SL019-241----) located c.4m NE. The two mounds may be part of the one site. There is a fulacht fia (SL019-238----) c. 20m to N, and a possible burnt mound (SL019-240----) is c. 30m to W. Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 12 May 2011
