An earlier report (ITA Survey 1942-4) recorded a 'cave' with 'two openings' in Mullaroe. 'There is a well in the first chamber. This cave has not been fully explored.' This may refer to the souterrain (SL019-018002-), marked 'Cave' on the OS 1913 edition of the OS 6-inch map, within Mullaroe rath (SL019-018001-).

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
