On the rounded peak of Crockalaghta, affording panoramic views of the surrounding countryside with the cairns on Doomore (SL019-177----) c. 320m to E and Knocknarea (SL014-076----) and Knocknashee (SL032-013003-) visible in the distance to NE and SSE. The cairn (diam. c. 13m; H 1.3m) is located towards the NE side of the peak and is partially obscured by a blanket of peat and heather. On top of the W side of the cairn, a small pile of stones stands above the level of the rest. A smaller cairn (SL019-174002-) lies c. 4m to S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005).
