What is recorded here

Situated on an eminence at the NW edge of a N-S ridge. Raised circular area (diam. 23m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth. 5m; int. H 0.3m) except at E where the defining element is a steep scarp (H 1.7m). At the outer foot of the bank and scarp from SSW-W-NNW is a space (Wth. 2m) and a second bank (Wth. 3.8m; int. H 0.7m). At the outer foot of the second bank is a second space (Wth. 3m) and the levelled remains of a third bank (Wth. 1.7m; ext. H 0.65m) which may be the last remnants of a later field boundary. At NNW this bank merges with a field boundary which curves around the site from NNW-N-ENE and which marks the boundary between Lismacbryan and Carrowkeel townlands. From SE-SSE-S the two outer spaces and banks have been destroyed by quarrying. Original entrance not recognisable. A low ENE-WSW field wall bisects the internal area. Compiled by: Patrick F.
