This monument was first shown on the 1913 edition of the OS 6-inch map. Seven erect and ten prostate stones here were taken by the surveyors to be the remains of a stone circle. This does not seem to be a very likely interpretation but the nature of the structure cannot be decided in its present condition. A slab, 1.50m in maximum dimension, resting on two of the uprights and on a prostate stone was taken to be one of the "Giant's Graves".
