Locating on a broad, flat-topped ridge of heather- and sedge-covered blanket bog, bordered at W by a small stream valley. Old turf banks traverse the area, and small scale machine cutting takes place in parts. Part of the bog has been planted with forestry. This record was not listed in the SMR (1989). It refers to a ‘field system -pre-bog’ which was first noted in the early 1990’s and was listed in the RMP (1995) at IG 138620 328460 (equating to ITM 538585 828467): the source of this record is unknown and there is no field report from the 1990’s on file. The location as depicted on the 1913 OS 6-inch map is largely featureless and it is possible that the co-ordinates listed in the RMP (1995) were approximate only. An inspection of the area was carried out in 2014. No trace of a field system was found. Its location remains unknown.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
