What is recorded here

Located within a slightly raised area on the WSW side of Magheraghanrush cashel (SL015-052001-). The souterrain consists of a passage (L 5.3m; Wth 1.1m; H 1.3m) orientated NNE-WSW. The lintels are absent. The walls are of un-coursed rough rubble limestone and the floor of rock and earth slopes gently downwards from NNE-WSW. The entrance appears to have been at the NNE end where the passage turns at a right angle, extending 2m to the E, before vanishing as the floor rises. At the SSW end of the passage is a roughly rectangular drystone walled chamber (dims. L 2m N-S; Wth 1.65m E-W; H 1.35m) offset to the W of the passage. A single rectangular limestone slab lintel survives over the W end wall of the chamber. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 21 April 2011
