In parkland on the SE side of Sligo Town, located at the edge of a grassy expanse bordered to E by woodland.
This burnt mound was discovered in 2008 during archaeological test-trenching in advance of proposed development works (Hackett 2008). It was visible at ground level as a semi-circular area at the edge of treeline cover. Excavation of the test trench (19 E & F) revealed a concentration (10 x 15m; D 0.3m) of heat-shattered stones (limestone and some sandstone) and charcoal. There is another burnt mound (SL014-298----) a few meters to NW. (Hackett 2008).
