On the summit of Knocknarae Mountain, located 26m SE of a cairn (MA014-076008-), and 90m SSE of a large passage tomb, known as Maeve’s Cairn (MA014-076003-). It is located towards the S edge of the summit plateau, with a 2m drop in ground level immediately to E.
The original form of this cairn is uncertain. It is evident now as a low, inconspicuous sod-covered concentration (diam. c. 8m; H 0.3m) of angular limestone, with a central depression at N, which gives it a roughly U-shaped plan. (Bergh 1995, 241, site 9). This is a National Monument (No. 153) in state ownership.
