What is recorded here

Located under the bank on NW side of Ardabrone cashel (SL013-055001-). Immediately outside the souterrain entrance, within cashel bank is a roughly semi-circular (2m NE-SW; 1.6m NW-SE; H 1.3m) walled area with the opening facing SE. The unmortared rubble limestone walling arches gently inwards at the top and is covered by a large limestone capstone (dims. 1.7m2; T 0.4m). The lintelled entrance (Wth 1.1m; H 0.3m) to the souterrain is located at the base of the wall on the SW side. The passage is orientated E-W and extends for 1.7m behind the entrance and is then blocked by what appears to be collapsed material. The sides of the passage are lined with unmortared limestone rubble walling. Compiled by: Mark Keegan Date of upload: 19 January 2011
