What is recorded here

Listed in the SMR (1998) as holy well (unlocated). Not listed in the RMP (1995). The OS Letters (1836, 310) record that ‘There is (was?) a well called Tobar Molais in the Townland of Corcaghmore which has been this long time dried up…’ O’Rorke (1889, vol. 2, 405) recorded that the well, dedicated to St. Molaisse, was located in the vicinity of a church (SL012-025001-) known as Templeboy Church, which is located to E of Corkagh More in the adjoining townland of Corcoransacres. The exact location of the well is unknown. Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 29 November 2016

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
