Located 125m N of the N shore line of Sligo Bay, beneath the surface of a road (R291) bordered by modern housing. This burnt mound was discovered in June 2022 during archaeological monitoring (licence 22E0373) in advance of a Rosses Point/Ballincar Sewerage Scheme. It was exposed in the section face of a trial trench. It consists of a deposit of heat-cracked stones in a charcoal-enriched matrix (D 0.4m) located at a depth of 1.2m below the surface of the road; it is overlain by existing road fill.
