What is recorded here

Situated on a slight S-facing slope in gently undulating pasture. Raised roughly circular area (diam. c.22m) enclosed by a narrow-topped bank (Wth 4.5m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 2.1m) of earth and stone with a steep external face. At the external base of the bank is a fosse (Wth 5.2m) with a broad flat-topped bank of earth and stone (Wth 6.5m; int. H 1.1m). From SE-SW the internal bank is absent and the edge is defined by a steep scarp (ext. H 2.6m). A modern drain cuts through the external bank at NNW and flows S along the base of the fosse into a marshy area immediately to the SW of the rath. The external bank is barely visible NNE-NE and is not visible at ground level NE-SW. A ramp (Wth 6m) to the exterior at SE marks the position of the original entrance. Compiled by: Patrick F.
