An extended female inhumation in a slab-lined grave was found in 1992 on Dernish Island. Eight roughly circular flat stones formed a mandola-like ring of glory around the skull of the skeleton. It is considered to date to the early 1st millennium AD. (Buckley, Buckley and McCormick 2002).
