Cross-slab in Inishmurray

This cross-slab stands upright 2m east of the inner edge of the south passage gateway in the ecclesiastical enclosure/cashel (SL001-001001-). It was first recorded by Wakeman (1893, 113, fig. 55) 'in the men’s cemetery [SL001-001029-]'. Slab (H: <0.73 m, W: 0.455 m, Th: 0.09 m) with complex shafted cross filling most of its face. Rising from a horizontal base (0.345 m long) decorated with short vertical terminal bars, the shaft and upper arm comprises three continuous parallel incised lines that terminate abruptly without elaboration at the top of the cross. The horizontal arms are also formed from three incised lines which join the outer lines of the vertical element.
