What is recorded here

Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 45m) on the 1837 and 1915 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated at the SE edge of a hillock in an undulating landscape with field walls. It is not visible at ground level in improved pasture but it was probably a rath. The parch mark of what might be a bank with an outer fosse feature around a D-shaped area (dims c. 30m N-S; c. 20m E-W) can be seen on Bing images (c. 2013) and digitalglobe images (c. 2015). There are local reports of an underground structure, possibly a souterrain (RO051-058002-), in the interior (Gannon 1972). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 28 June 2018
