Marked as a small wood on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and as an oval feature (dims c. 80m NE-SW; c. 55m NW-SE) on the 1928 ed. Situated towards the bottom of a gentle S-facing slope. It is not visible at ground level in pasture, but is visible as a vegetation mark in grass defined by a narrow bank and fosse feature which cut across a pre-existing lazy-bed system (ASIAP (185) 24).
