What is recorded here

Marked as a subrectangular feature (dims c. 40m NW-SE; c. 30m NE-SW) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and as a triangular feature on the 1928 ed. Situated at the E end of a low E-W ridge. This is a triangular grass-covered area (dims 41m N-S; 32.7m E-W) defined by an earthen bank with some bushes (Wth 3.4-4m; int. H 0.1-0.15m; ext. H 0.35-1.2m) separated by a fosse (Wth of top 7.3-8.4m; Wth of base 3.7-4.3m; D 0.45-0.85m) from an outer bank (Wth 2.2-2.4m; ext. H 0.25-0.3m) on the NW side. The perimeter is largely reduced to a fosse (Wth of top 6m; Wth of base 1.5m; int. D 0.75m; ext. D 0.4m) on the NE side. The monument is truncated by an E-W field wall at S and does not survive S of this. There is no identifiable original entrance. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
