In a low-lying landscape. An overgrown natural spring is surrounded by a rectangular drystone-walled enclosure (dims 5.3m WNW-ESE; 5m NNW-SSE) which was built c. 1753 (OS Name Book). A limestone slab (RO041-026002-) (dims 0.6m x 0.45m; T 0.2m) with an inscription recording the building of the wall by Sir Marcus Lowther Crofton in Sep. 1780 (Siggins 1992, 77) is at the well.
