The 17th century graveslab of John Hynde that was recorded by FitzGerald (1892-4, 357) as at the W end of the Dominican church (RO039-055001-) is now missing. It is described as: In the west end of the abbey is a large slab lying flat, with an inscription in relief; it commences nearly half way down the stone, and is very hard to decipher, being much worn: GODS WILL AND PLEASURE / IS OVR IOY ….URE / PRAY FOR THE SOULS OF IOHN / HYNDE AND …. MARTEN H / IS WIFE WHO CAVSED THIS TO . MB TO BE MADE ANN / 16
Below the inscription is a large skull and cross-bones with Memento More in relief below them and on either side an IHS and a wheel-like object.
