On a slight rise in a low-lying landscape. The Dominican friary was founded by Felimid O'Conor in 1267. It was burned in 1270 and struck by lightning in 1308. By 1445 it was in disrepair when an indulgence was granted to restore its fabric and in 1578 it was granted to Sir Nicholas Malby.
Apart from some graves in the interior of the church there is no evidence of a graveyard here although one is depicted as a D-shaped enclosure (dims c. 40m E-W; c. 20m N-S) encompassing the friary on the 1837 and 1927 eds of the OS 6-inch map.
