What is recorded here

On a slight rise of a gentle SE-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 42.4m N-S; 39.8m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.3-2.6m; int. H 0.1-0.2m; ext. H 0.3m) WNW-E and S-WSW, which is reduced to a scarp (H 0.7m) elsewhere. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance, and relict field banks (RO038-004005-) attach to the perimeter at S and NW. A bank extends W (L c. 50m) from the perimeter of the rath at SW and another bank extends S (L c. 20m) from the same point before turning E (L c. 50m). From the perimeter at NW a bank extends N (L c. 50m) and another bank runs W (L c. 30m) from this, c. 10m from the rath. Test trenches (96E0075) conducted c. 100m to the W failed to reveal any associated features (Ryan 1997c). Rath (RO038-005001-) is c. 170m to the NNE.
